House of Mobu - Reimagined

House Of Mobu is a couture  bead work brand, that makes mostly custom bead work outfits and accessories. The label is the brainchild of South African celebrity personality Ntsiki Mazwai.

RESULTS

The outcome is a visually delighting brand identity for House Of Mobu. I shared the rebrand on Twitter, and some of its followers gave positive feedback. This showed that upon implementation, the new identity would achieve customer loyalty.

THE NAME

“Mobu” is the SeSotho word meaning mud. The concept of the name is derived from the mud houses that many African people still have as homes. To live so close to the land, and having the Earth surround you as a symbol of being in sync with nature.

The logo concept was derived from the visual similarity between Morse code and a string of beads. This symbolized that with beads one could say something... something that is succinct and noteworthy.

I felt that the brand has so much potential to grow from its current identity. So, I designed an identity system that they could grow into - one that reflects their sense of African excellence in crafting luxury fashion. I met this challenge using a brand attributes exercise, and the result is a delighting brand to look at.

Brand Attributes: Ubuntu, Bold, Noticed, Hand-crafted, Together, and Kindness.

Once I had figured out House Of Mobu's brand strategy, as well as the identity system... I set out to imagine how it would look in real-life; on possible applications

MOBU IN DIGITAL

I expanded the new brand identity and took into consideration the digital platforms that House Of Mobu would use. One of those being a website for which I did style tiles on Adobe XD.
